100 metal street signs for Sequim (there were neither house numbers nor street signs) with a letter of thanks from the City Council

Club members support a high school class “Living: Understanding One’s Self, Marriage, and  Family Problems”

SIS contributed to Girls State, an American Legion program to develop leadership

Support for Camp Ramblewood in Sequim Bay Park

The Sequim Club form a committee to aid minor and needy girls, resolving that each Soroptimist member be available for help whenever needed

Soroptimist and the American Legion Auxiliary work together to start a clothing closet for needy families

Endorsement of the “Equal Pay for Equal Work” bill in the United States Congress (signed into law in 1963)

Sponsorship of two Girl Scout Troops

The Club requests that the new elementary school be named after its second president, Helen Haller

Helped to raise funds for the State Park building at Sequim Bay State Park so that the Girl Scouts could use it, for a bleacher in the Athletic Park, for trips for new teachers to learn about local resources

Collected books for Legarda Memorial College in the Philippines, garnering the school a three-year educational credential on the basis of that library

SIS rents out baby furniture and medical equipment

Virginia Keeting, SIS President 1971-1972 and award winning historian-journalist was named Sequim’s “Man of the Year” for 1968 and served as grand marshal of the 1995 Irrigation Festival. Frost Road, where she lived, was renamed Keeting Road.
