Soroptimist International of Sequim celebrates 75 years of supporting education and the community this May. We have given more than 375 scholarships over those years, worth around $410,000. At this milestone in our history, we wondered where life had taken those young people since they received our scholarships.
We began a massive search to locate and contact our scholarship recipients to ask them about their lives and their greatest accomplishments. What we found has been amazing. We have heard from people all the way back to 1966 and in every decade all the way to 2021.
There is a teacher/rock climber living in Spain, a cider maker here in Sequim, a woman doing her master’s thesis on Nicaraguan fishers, a wedding photographer living in Italy, a farmer protecting the land right here in Sequim, a nurse in Australia, a tattoo artist in North Carolina, a woman about to take three children around the world on a sailboat…and that’s just a sampling.
We hope you will be as interested and as proud of them as we are.
